Margaret Bicknell MD
History of Art (BA Hons )
I studied History of Art in the 1980s and after various attempts to become a picture restorer, decided for financial reasons ( I had to eat!) to become a Chartered Accountant. Following a career in accountancy which spanned 35 years and included 5 years with Peter Gabriel, I felt that it was time to go back to my roots. I had ten years previously become involved with the Norfolk Youth Music Theatre, initially in the capacity of chaperone and Treasurer but soon became involved with the costumes. I had studied the history of costumes as part of my degree so was on familiar ground. In 2012 I decided it was time to make the switch from accountant to costumier permanently and Thespis was born.
Our philosophy is to produce the best quality costumes we can for each show and are one of the few costumiers that supply footwear with every show. We supply costumes to the UK as well as Ireland and mainland Europe. In 2016 we hope launch our armoury division. We are developing a more sophisticated use of weapons on stage by using latest electronics and technology. This will revolutionise the way weapons are being fired on stage and to comply with the ever changing law.
Our aim is to continue to grow our client base and our stock of quality costumes.
