“Thespis Releases All New Sound of Music Costumes for 2019”
St Albans Musical Theatre Company
7-11 November 2017 at the Alban Arena
West Side Story Costume Launch.
Thespis Theatrical Costumiers are pleased to announce a brand new costume set being launched in November by the St Albans Musical Theatre Company.
Opening night Tuesday 7 November 2017 to Saturday 11 November 2017
Evenings at 7.45pm & Saturday matinee at 2.30pm
Inspired by the timeless story of Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story takes Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, and places them in the vibrant battleground of New York City’s West Side in the 1950s. In the midst of the deep-seated rivalry between the Puerto Rican gang, the Sharks, and the white gang, the Jets, Maria and Tony discover that ancient grudges are no match for true love. Their warring factions, however, refuse to back down, and the “rumbles”, romance, and resentment lead to the lovers’ ultimate, tragic conclusion.
With soaring, sophisticated, and diverse melodies, energetic and athletic dance battles, and its remarkably salient social message, West Side Story remains one of musical theatre’s most revolutionary and most loved treasures.
Bernstein’s score for the musical includes ‘Something’s Coming’, ‘Maria’, ‘America’, ‘Somewhere’, ‘Tonight’, ‘Jet Song’, ‘I Feel Pretty’, ‘A Boy Like That’, ‘One Hand, One Heart’, ‘Gee, Officer Krupke’, and ’Cool’.
An amateur production by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.
Based on a conception of Jerome Robbins; Book by Arthur Laurents; Music by Leonard Bernstein; Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Original production directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and produced on Broadway by Robert E Griffith & Harold Prince by arrangement with Roger L Stevens.

Benedict Cumberbatch explains LAMDA. The last big push to the finish line for LAMDA`s Future.
LAMDA is a vital artistic resource that nourishes the global performing arts industry, contributes to our economy and enriches our cultural life. Together, over the last three years we have raised 98% of the £28.2m needed to build the Academy’s new theatres and training spaces and secure the future of the school.
Thanks to you we are almost there… But we still need your help to get across the finish line and open the doors on LAMDA’s future.
Your support is now more crucial than ever. We have under £500,000 left to raise for the new facilities. To help us do this, we have been set a challenge by one of our generous supporters.
They will now match every £2 you donate to LAMDA and its students with an additional £1.
This is an incredible opportunity to support the next generation of dramatic artists and technicians. I hope you will join me and Act Now! by making a donation to the campaign.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT WILL DO
We are very grateful to everyone who has already given a gift to support this campaign. The redevelopment will give LAMDA 50% more teaching space, including state of the art screen and audio facilities, The Sackler Library and two new performance venues – The Sainsbury Theatre and The Carne Studio Theatre – for students, staff, graduates and the community. These new facilities will ensure LAMDA continues to train the very best actors, directors, stage managers and technicians, and maintains its world-leading contribution to the performing arts.

Addams Family Costume Hire – Truly Bewitching !
“NODA” reviews say it all
The Addams Family costumes are all the rage in theatres across the UK. The black-clad family is putting the fun in dysfunctional as they take to the stage. Iconic characters, memorable musical numbers and a guest appearance by Thing; the musical comedy has a little something for everyone. Here at Thespis Theatrical Costumiers we offer hand crafted costume hire for this show across many centuries as this show in particular requires a great deal of time periods in the ancestors. The various costumes range from 1950’s flight attendant to 1920’s flapper dress, prehistoric days of cavemen and even a Titanic victim. They are all thoroughly represented with intricate detailing to each outfit.Matching shoes are also available to hire as the complete set.
Lack of colours are not featured within the main Addams household although traditionally hints of purple or burgundy may be seen in Morticia costume, which detracts from their overall “basic black” motif and lessens the shock value of the Beineke family when they arrive in their bright colours.
We probably have one of the best and largest costume sets for this show available to hire anywhere.
Jekyll and Hyde
Good Luck to the Newcastle Operatic Society with their production of Jekyll and Hyde!
Jekyll And Hyde will be presented at The Rep Theatre Stoke-On-Trent October 31st-5th November 2016.
Director : James Freeman
Musical Director: Allison Fisher
Choreographer: Sarah Capewell
Shaken by his father’s mental illness, Dr. Jekyll invents a chemical, HJ7, that he believes can cure people afflicted with debilitating mental illness. He struggles to convince the Board of Governors at the mental hospital to allow him to test the chemical on patients, even though he is set to marry the Chairman’s daughter, Emma. As he and his friend Utterson celebrate his bachelor party at a local club called the Red Rat, Jekyll witnesses an abusive relationship between Spider and Lucy, before retiring to his home and injecting himself with HJ7. Jekyll transforms into Hyde, and proceeds to explore London as his new alter-ego, attacking Lucy before starting a relationship with her, killing the Bishop, Lord Glossop, Archibald, Lady Beaconsfield and Lord Savage. He eventually kills Lucy. At his wedding to Emma, Jekyll and Hyde oscillate between personalities, and in a moment of clarity, Jekyll kills himself by throwing himself on Utterson’s sword.
Including songs “This Is The Moment” “Someone Like You” and “ In His Eyes”
